Linda's job durning harvest is to pull the 'bankout' wagon used to ferry the harvested grain between the combine, operated by her husband Ron, and the wheat trucks, driven by her daughters Roni Jo and Alicia. I spent many enjoyable hours riding with Linda durning the 2006 harvest and our wide ranging conversation. Plus, I was in the cab of the tractor when she learned that her daughter Alicia, who was away at music camp at the Interlochen Arts Academy, was invited to apply for the regular academic year, and the discussion turned to how much it would cost.

Linda talked about her experiences as a wheat farmer working in both the fields and the kitchen at the Pacific Northwest History Conference: "Game Changers and History Makers: Women in Pacific Northwest History" on November 3rd at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Washington.
